Cambridge Semantics adds OpenCypher to AnzoGraph

Cambridge Semantics, a provider of modern data discovery and integration software for enterprise data fabrics, has added OpenCypher to support AnzoGraph, the OLAP (online analytical processing) graph database at the core of the Anzo platform. According to Cambridge Semantics, it is the first vendor to offer both of the industry query languages for semantic graph and property graph data access.

Preview releases of AnzoGraph with OpenCypher will be available in Q2 of 2019, with beta and full general availability later in 2019.

With the release of AnzoGraph, Cambridge has seen strong demand by existing Cypher customers to be able to easily perform big data analytics without re-writing their evolving applications and re-training their staff to SPARQL, said Barry Zane, vice president of engineering, Cambridge Semantics. Similarly, he added, Cambridge continues to be a strong proponent of the W3C-based standards process and has been at the leading edge of the RDF/SPARQL evolution.

Just as computer systems support multiple programming languages, database systems must support multiple query languages concurrently on the same instances against the same data. The decision to allow applications using either approach, Zane noted, was a natural progression for the company as part of its commitment to the market.
