Paper distributor optimizing supply chain operations

With better control over its supply chain operations, Champion International plans to better forecast production and smooth relationships with its customers and suppliers.

Champion, which produces lumber, plywood and papers from 11 million acres of forestland, is now using Manugistics' e-Chain Solutions supply chain management system for its North American operations. Champion is also integrating e-Chain with its existing ERP system.

Automating supply chain functions "gives us greater flexibility at lower costs while continuing to improve customer service," said Cheryl Bogenschutz, director of IT.

Expected results include more accurate production forecasts, and better end-to-end supply chain visibility on a daily basis
