Microsoft Viva Connections desktop app is now available for download

Microsoft has announced that Microsoft Viva Connections desktop app is now available for download. The announcement was made in a Microsoft blog post by Michael Holste is a senior product marketing manager for employee engagement at Microsoft 

Following the launch of the desktop app, the mobile experience for Viva Connections will be available in Teams in the summer of 2021. 

Viva Connections, which was announced earlier this year as part of the Viva employee experience offering, provides a personalized gateway to a digital workplace where employees can access internal communications and company resources such as policies and benefits and participate in communities such as mployee resource groups, all from a single customizable app in Microsoft Teams. 

“In conjunction with the release of the mobile experience, we will also release an update to the desktop experience that will focus on improvements for IT administrators and deployment enhancements. This summer update will combine both the mobile and desktop configuration and deployment into the Teams admin console,” wrote Holste in his post.

The summer update will also include web parts for the “dashboard” and “feed” to align with the mobile experience and these new web parts will enable the dashboard experience, authored in SharePoint, to be constant across all end points. Holste said that as web parts they will be available to add to any of sites and allow users to leverage multiple columns and other advanced layouts on the desktop.
