Microsoft expert provides overview of Project Cortex ahead of its release

Later this year, Microsoft will release Project Cortex, the company’s new generation knowledge and content management solution, for general availability.

Project Cortex applies AI to empower people with knowledge in the apps they use every day, automatically organizing content and expertise across your systems and teams to create a knowledge network, with built-in security, compliance and workflow.

KMWorld recently held a webinar with Chris McNulty, director of product marketing, Microsoft, who discussed how the platform will help customers harness knowledge throughout Microsoft 365.

Project Cortex is a knowledge network in Microsoft 365 that can connect people to knowledge, can categorize content and automate processes, and connect and manage content to improve security and compliance.

The platform can strengthen the metadata foundation across Microsoft 365. It offers a consistent tagging experience with contextual term suggestions and Auto Tagging allowing users to discover enterprise content based on terms. The platform also provides improved enterprise content type syndication, discovery, and enforcement for consistent metadata schemas across tenant.

New AI services and capabilities to make it easier to build content understanding and classification apps directly into the content management flow of Project Cortex, McNulty said.

Project Cortex offers information protection and labeling, which are central compliance tools for sensitivity and retention.
