A2iA TextReader V2.0 Expands Language Support

A2iA, a developer of handwritten and machine-printed text recognition, information extraction and intelligent document classification toolkits, has announced the availability of A2iA TextReader V2.0, which expands the list of supported languages and character-types.

A2iA TextReader is an SDK that can be applied to workflows with existing third-party classification and/or extraction engines for enhanced recognition and automation. Powered by a recurrent neural network (RNN)-based technology developed by A2iA’s in-house R&D team, users can process entire lines of writing without requiring a prior segmentation into characters or into words, allowing for increased read rates and reduced error rates.

With the most recent release of A2iA TextReader V2.0, the languages that the software toolkit supports include printed and handwritten information from English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Arabic documents, said Wendi Klein, director of marketing and business development for North America at A2iA.

“A2iA TextReader is unique to the market in that it allows for full text extraction of all data without a dictionary or customization, including cursive handwriting,” said Klein.  “It is currently the only software on the market to enable this type of transcription, as well as the only software to allow for cursive Arabic data recognition.” This enables documents to be converted into searchable and editable electronic data.

According to the vendor, TextReader is applicable to multiple vertical markets and document types, and can be integrated into global applications for use within the banking and fin-tech, BPO/service bureau, government, insurance, healthcare, telecom and utilities markets.
