The Big Opportunity for Search
Connecting the Content and Process Dots

A final requirement is the ability to power a larger vision—business and industry process improvement. Specifically, search must be able to be packaged with other functionality, like workflow or intelligent capture, into a cohesive solution that addresses the unique needs of a particular process. And of course, that solution must work seamlessly with all of the business systems and content sources an organization has in place.

While there isn't a single "killer application" that solves every "big data" problem (70% of those surveyed by AIIM are hoping for one), you can bet that those few search vendors that have the right technology and the right approach have zeroed in on the right target.

Perceptive's Enterprise Search and Workgroup Search Applications

Perceptive Search 10.2 finds answers wherever they exist, allow users to access content from any platform using any device.

(From a press release dated February 12, 2013)

Perceptive Software announces the release of version 10.2 of Perceptive Search applications—Enterprise Search and Workgroup Search. The company's first release of search technology since its acquisition of ISYS in 2012 is more connected, more powerful and faster, providing decision makers access to content wherever it exists, from any platform and any device.

Connections with Perceptive Content and Perceptive Globalbrain enable search within imaged documents, offering the unique ability to search content trapped inside static, even poor quality document images such as scanned paper, faxes and TIFFs.

Through its intuitive Social Explorer feature, Perceptive Enterprise Search now actively reaches out to LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook, surfacing data that's vital in today's business environment.

Because content changes quickly, indexing optimizations within Enterprise Search and Workgroup Search offer quicker access to new and recently changed content.

Perceptive Enterprise Search and Workgroup Search support Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, iOS6 and Android Jelly Bean platforms, putting knowledge management personnel in touch with vital business data across multiple systems—including both entrenched and newly adopted platforms—in the office or on the go.

A Perceptive Search Case Study

State Farm is the world's largest mutual property and casualty insurance company. With 68,000 employees and more than 18,000 agents, the company services 81 million policies and accounts throughout the United States and Canada. Like any insurance business, State Farm has to be able to distinguish fraudulent claims from the genuine ones.

Statistics show that the number of questionable claims rose from 74,676 in 2008 to 91,730 in 2010—an increase of 23%. State Farm wanted to find a better way of detecting and minimizing these types of claims.

Perceptive Search gave State Farm a powerful tool for combating fraud that could be implemented very quickly and require minimal support. State Farm agents can now access and analyze disparate pieces of information across all of its locations through a single interface, enabling adjustors to accurately and confidently pinpoint possible fraudulent claims prior to processing.

Over time, the State Farm teams have been able to adopt a more proactive approach to fraud, based on the insights and information patterns they have identified—generating further gains in productivity and cost savings.
