Check Section 508 Web compliance

Hiawatha Island Software (HiSoftware) introduces AccVerify, software that verifies Web site accessibility compliance with all policies and standards as outlined in Subpart B of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998.

Section 508 goes into effect on June 21. It mandates that federal agencies must ensure that all electronic and information technology purchased, maintained or developed meets the accessibility standards established by the U.S. Access Board.

AccVerify provides comprehensive verification of policy and standards for Web sites, including programmatic/rule-based verification, a checklist for Priority One checkpoints and Failsafe checking, HiSoftware says. In addition, the company explains, AccVerify clearly differentiates between W3C "Priority One" guidelines and 508 B requirements. AccVerify will be available as an automated server application, as a stand-alone application, as an integrated add-on to Microsoft FrontPage and as an automated component of HiSoftware's Metadata Server.
