Retrieve enterprise knowledge blending AI agents with LumApps

For years, the goal of Knowledge Management was discovery: ensuring employees could find the right document at the right time. But in the era of Generative AI, "finding" is no longer enough.

To drive true ROI, IT leaders must move their strategy from the Information Layer—where AI simply answers questions—to the Execution Layer, where AI acts.

Sid Khaitan, senior product marketing manager at LumApps, joined KMWorld webinar, Beyond Retrieval: Activating Enterprise Knowledge with AI Agents, to explore the shift from traditional search to "agentic workflows."

Using stats from Gartner, Khaitan explained that “47%, almost half of workers can’t access information to perform their jobs.” Most companies have a “kitchen drawer” consisting of various platforms strung together, causing data sprawl and fragmentation, said Khaitan. AI didn’t fix this, it has only made it worse.

The real shift is moving from search to action, from answering questions to finishing tasks, and then instituting centralized, role-aware, governed AI is what makes it scalable.

The missing layer in enterprise AI will connect systems of record, systems of engagement, and systems of productivity.

The roadmap from knowledge retrieval to agentic action consists of:

  • Step 1: Specialized Search Agents deliver domain-specific answers with guardrails
  • Step 2: Assistive Agents help employees complete structured tasks
  • Step 3: Agentic Workflows orchestrate multi-step processes across systems

The LumApps platform was built for secure, governed adoption, Khaitan said. It offers security controls and guardrails that enforce policy, permissions, and auditability. Is one company-approved destination for AI to eliminate shadow AI and agent sprawl. And it provides role-based access and in-flow context that delivers the right information at the point of work.
