IDM Solutions and dtSearch Create Translation Add-On to Enhance Data Search

IDM Solutions (IDMS), a provider of information management and translation solutions, and dtSearch, which specializes in enterprise and developer text retrieval software and document filters, have announced an IDMS translation add-on to some of dtSearch’s enterprise-ready “off the shelf” products - Desktop/Network with Spider and dtSearch Web with Spider.

dtSearch Desktop/Network and dtSearch Web can search terabytes of data consisting of a range of document types, emails, and attachments, and web-ready data. The products provide over 25 search options, including special forensics options, and support all Unicode-based international languages, both in terms of searching and in terms of retrieved document and other data display with highlighted hits.

Up until now, however, dtSearch Desktop/Network and dtSearch Web could not “pair” original (source) and translated (target) versions of the full document and display them side-by-side with highlighted hits.

According to Philippe Leonhart of IDMS, which is based in Montreal, Quebec, the company selected dtSearch for the collaboration because search query and results loading were instantaneous. Since Canada is a bilingual nation, side-by-side retrieval of original and translated texts can also be helpful in search results review, he noted.

By adding an option for customizable document pair detection, IDMS enabled the additional bilingual display feature. In addition, the IDMS pairing engine simultaneously displays the source and target (translated) documents, and can also display them aligned on paragraph boundaries, with hits highlighted in both documents.
