Easing SharePoint adoption

Quest Software, soon to be officially acquired by Dell, has released AttachThis, software that brings SharePoint to Microsoft Outlook.

AttachThis permits users to:

• automatically upload attachments to SharePoint and replace them with links sent to recipients from within Outlook,
• simplify collaboration by using SharePoint to automatically consolidate edits from various team members into a single document,
• reduce time spent searching for the appropriate e-mail attachments, and
• eliminate “out-of-space” e-mail alerts.

Quest reports that AttachThis Pro allows administrators to:

• control where users store e-mail attachments in SharePoint with easily identifiable tags,
• improve security by granting document access to e-mail recipients only, and
• perform statistical analysis of organizational usage of AttachThis.
