A wiser Web for NTIS

Connotate and the National Technical Information Service have established a joint venture whereby they will offer automated Web archiving tools that increase the performance and innovative distribution of federally funded science and technology information to the agency’s government and content provider clientele.

NTIS, a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce, says its goal is to synthesize the massive amounts of dynamic online content generated by more than 3 million publications through a series of joint ventures, including one with Connotate for its visual abstraction technology provided in the Agent Community product. As a result, NTIS will now be able to offer a new Web data and content solution to its clients that can be rapidly deployed to fulfill their data collection needs.

Connotate claims its Agent Community solution will increase NTIS staff productivity because it allows employees to aid in federal agency information processing, fulfillment and distribution needs by efficiently setting structure around high volumes of unstructured Web data. Further, Connotate contends, its highly scalable offering eliminates the manual tasks spent hunting, gathering and integrating data from disparate internal and external sources. The solution increases productivity 10 to 100 times.
