Reimagining Workflows in the Agentic Age

Engaging and Nurturing Customer Relationships

When email marketing first emerged, many small companies seeking to engage prospective customers had trouble generating and managing leads. List providers were not sufficiently transparent as to the sources and methods of creating the lists, and companies using them were frequently disappointed by poor conversion rates. Jared Knapp founded Jared’s Leads, a company whose initial mission was to help companies sift through lead data to reach the right person at the right time and foster engagement. After noticing that response delays could result in loss of prospective customers, Knapp developed LeadWave, which provides AI-driven responses and CRM automation to help convert leads. “LeadWave can prioritize prospects based on intent, answer common questions, and send reminders,” said Knapp. “The software supports a transition to a high probability revenue-generating outcome built on a knowledgebase.”

The knowledgebase is generated by having an integration with ChatGPT, which asks questions of the client. The questions depend on the domain the company is trying to automate. “It usually just takes about 90 minutes to onboard LeadWave, in collaboration with a subject matter expert,” continued Knapp.

Although lead quality is an important factor, management of the customer journey is equally important. “Initially, the client may think they just have a lead problem,” Knapp pointed out, “but often they come to the conclusion that they have a lead nurturing problem too.” Providing support to the customer via a workflow that addresses their interests and concerns is essential. LeadWave also pulls together leads from multiple channels.

LeadWave can take the burden off busy professionals by handling part of the intake process. Law firms, for example, often face challenges in quickly assessing whether a prospective customer might be a good fit for them. “LeadWave helps organize the prospective customer’s information and schedule an appointment, if appropriate, before an attorney gets involved,” he noted. “But we always view LeadWave as a support service, and we provide an easy off-ramp to get to a human when needed.”

Agentic marketing will take over traditional automation, according to Knapp. “It is the difference between a rulebased workflow versus having an understanding of the context of the decision making that provides a better response to the customer.”

Not all workflow is agentic, and not all agentic AI is workflow, but where the two converge, a very dynamic market has emerged for companies both large and small. As recently as September 2025, Market.us predicted that the global agentic AI workflow market will grow from $5.2 billion as of 2024 to $227 billion by 2034, meaning a growth approaching 50% per year. Few software sectors can match this upside potential, so look for a lot of action here within the next few years.
