NetDocuments expands its MCP ecosystem to include variety of AI and legal partners

NetDocuments is announcing the expansion of its open, AI-tool-agnostic approach to Model Context Protocol (MCP)—adding Google Gemini Enterprise to the NetDocuments MCP ecosystem, alongside Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity, as well as legal AI partners, including Harvey and Legora.

According to NetDocuments, “Together with our partners, we’re making it easier for firms to use the AI tools they choose with the trusted legal context already in NetDocuments. And because that context is built once and shared across every connection, each new tool and user a firm adds makes the same investment worth more.”

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) has become the standard way AI tools connect to enterprise systems, and most connections can give AI access to search results and document text.

NetDocuments can provide something more: structured, matter-specific legal context that helps an AI understand the relationships across the work rather than forcing it to reconstruct those relationships from documents every time, the company said.

For knowledge leaders, the opportunity significant. Institutional knowledge that has traditionally been scattered across documents and matters can become useful context for the AI tools lawyers already use—without requiring lawyers to manually assemble and upload the right files each time.

AI models and applications will continue to change. A firm’s context strategy shouldn’t have to start over every time they do, the company said.
