Tenable’s VPR infuses risk prioritization with AI-driven granularity and remediation

Tenable, the exposure management company, is announcing an update to the Tenable Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR), a solution for identifying high-risk vulnerabilities. Now powered by generative AI (GenAI), VPR benefits from enriched threat intelligence and context-aware scoring that helps enterprises better discover and fix critical vulnerabilities.

The next evolution of Tenable’s VPR aims to reduce vulnerability “noise,” or the oversaturation of vulnerability flags that lack specificity. Delivering improved clarity and precision, Tenable VPR’s AI enhancements utilize real-time data to drill-down on the critical vulnerabilities that pose the greatest business risk. With enhanced explainability and contextualization, organizations benefit from faster mean-time-to-remediation, optimized resources, and more strategically aligned security efforts with business priorities, according to Tenable.

“Our biggest problem was noise. We had thousands of vulnerabilities, and no clear way to know which ones posed a genuine threat,” said Jorge Orchilles, senior director, readiness and proactive security, Verizon. “Tenable VPR changed that by showing us what attackers are actually exploiting right now. It lets us focus our resources on the handful of issues that truly matter, which has made a real, measurable difference in how quickly we can get critical patches out.”

VPR now provides instant clarity through AI-generated threat summaries and remediation insights, enabling users to quickly understand the impact of exposure, how it’s being weaponized by threat actors, and how to mitigate it. Additionally, with enhanced filtering, querying, and metadata, enterprises can better comprehend and prioritize vulnerabilities based on their specific industry or geographical region.

“We’re taking our game-changing Tenable VPR to the next level with these AI-powered enhancements,” said Eric Doerr, chief product officer, Tenable. “Tenable VPR brings an unmatched precision and depth of threat intelligence, context, and explainability to cyber operations. With these critical insights at their fingertips, organizations can clearly visualize why an exposure matters, where they are vulnerable, and how to close their priority risks.”
