M-Files Partners with IT Governance to Address GDPR Compliance

M-Files, which provides an information management platform, has announced a partnership with IT Governance, a provider of IT governance, risk management and compliance solutions, to deliver a framework that helps organizations comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which goes into effect in May 2018.

M-Files is offering IT Governance’s GDPR Documentation Toolkit as part of the company's intelligent information management solution to help organizations manage the critical documents and processes required for their GDPR compliance projects. Consisting of document templates required for GDPR compliance, process controls and supporting best practices, this partnership aims to provide organizations with a system capable of driving compliance and facilitating related documentation. 

A critical aspect of GDPR compliance is that a company can demonstrate their steps toward meeting the requirements of the regulation, says Janne Järvenoja, head of legal affairs at M-Files. Partnering with IT Governance will enable M-Files to provide a solution that serves as the foundation for GDPR compliance, as well as enables organizations to verify that they have taken appropriate actions in the event that audits or breaches occur.
