SharePoint governance automation from AvePoint

AvePoint has released DocAve Governance Automation Service Pack (SP) 6, which allows IT to involve content owners in SharePoint migrations, provide users with important site information across hybrid environments, and better integrate with existing business processes through the use of third-party workflows, says the company.

AvePoint further explains the offering gives users a business-centric, role-based service catalog for provisioning, restructuring, moving or migrating content across SharePoint versions, sites and deployments. The company adds Governance Automation easily manages life cycle and permissions management requests and transcends the capabilities of rigid provisioning and security management solutions.

New features for DocAve Governance Automation SP 6 include:

User-driven migration—Organizations can now transform SharePoint migrations into a managed service. Through automated election processes and tasks, IT administrators can better determine the scope of the migration project by identifying content owners and allowing them to request content to be migrated. In addition to reducing the burden on IT, DocAve Governance Automation enables those who are closest to the content to determine the value and sensitivity of existing information before migrating it to SharePoint 2013, Office 365 or a hybrid deployment.

Site Information Card hybrid support—Site Information Cards now support hybrid environments, allowing users to access important site information, such as site contact, lease quota and available DocAve Governance Automation services, directly within the SharePoint interface both in the cloud and on premises.

Third-party workflow integration—IT administrators can now integrate third-party workflow solutions, including Nintex and K2, into DocAve Governance Automation. This allows organizations to utilize their workflow provider of choice to automate change management and approval for submitted requests, as well as closely align Governance Automation configurations with existing business processes.
