OpenText Completes Purchase of Documentum

OpenText, a provider of enterprise information management software, has closed on the acquisition of Dell EMC’s Enterprise Content Division, including Documentum, from Dell Technologies.

The purchase price for the acquisition was $1.62 billion.

The acquisition adds 5,000 customers, 2,000 employees and more than 300 partners to OpenText, and extends OpenText’s leadership in content services, information archives, key verticals, and the cloud, said OpenText CEO & CTO Mark J. Barrenechea.

OpenText first announced its plans to acquire Dell EMC's Enterprise Content Division (ECD) in September 2016.

The OpenText announcement of the purchase closely followed the Dell acquisition of EMC, which created a $74 billion company with a technology portfolio spanning hybrid cloud, software-defined data center, converged infrastructure, platform-as-a-service, data analytics, mobility and cybersecurity.
