KMWorld Unveils 2017 Conference Program

Registration is open and the program is now available for the KMWorld 2017 conference, an event that focuses on the fact that people are at the core of knowledge sharing and the key to high-functioning organizations. The theme of KMWorld 2017, People Power, Thinking, & Tech, is the culture, people, processes, thinking, and technologies that support organizations to help them excel in their industries.

KMWorld 2017 will take place Tuesday, November 7, to Thursday, November 9, at the JW Marriott, Washington, D.C., with pre-conference workshops on Monday, November 6, which can be registered for separately. Each day will kick off with thought-provoking keynote presentations exploring how people and technology can work together more successfully to expand knowledge sharing, decision making, and customer satisfaction.

This year, KMWorld 2017 opens  the event with a keynote titled, “People & Tech: The Future of Knowledge Sharing,”  presented by John Seely Brown, who is independent co-chairman, Deloitte Center for the Edge, and visiting scholar and advisor to the provost at University of Southern California. At the core of knowledge-sharing—and the key to high-functioning organizations—is people, according to Brown, who will share his vision of the future for how people and tech can work together to share knowledge and create winning organizations.

Tom Stewart, executive director, National Center for the Middle Market, Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University; and Patricia O’Connell, resident, Aerten Consulting, will present the Day 2 keynote on Wednesday, Nov. 8.  In “Woo, Woo, Win: KM for Customer Delight,” Stewart and O’Connell will look at how customer experience and service design can enhance knowledge sharing and success in organizations.

Stan Garfield, author, “Proven Practices for Promoting a Knowledge Management Program,” will lead the program on Thursday, Nov. 9, sharing his perspective on successful KM initiatives.  In a presentation titled, “Proven Practices,” Garfield, a longtime KM practitioner will offer proven strategies illustrated by real world examples for securing KM resources, participation, and advocacy from top organizational leadership.

KMWorld 2017 wraps up with a closing keynote presented by Jeanne Holm, senior advisor to the Mayor, assistant general manager of Los Angeles.  In “KM in the Age of Digital Transformation: Magic Sauce for a Successful Future,” Holm will explore the evolving digital transformation of every part of our world and reflect on what is needed to empower members of our communities and improve services.
