Umax Announces New U.S. Strategy, Realignment

Umax (Fremont, CA), known mostly for its scanners and Mac compatibles, has announced a shift in its strategy, to broaden its U.S. focus. Categorized as "a realignment rather than an organization," the move will combine synergistic business functions of the company's Umax Technologies and Umax Computer Corporation subsidiaries. The two will exist separately, with Umax Computer Corporation continuing as a manufacturing group serving the U.S. market. "Now that we have built successful independent infrastructures to distribute, market and support these products," said president Vincent Tai, "it only makes sense to leverage their combined synergy and build upon their common strengths." The new organization will consist of four major divisions focusing on technology segments: imaging, computer systems, notebooks and communication. Tai said the company is forcasting continued growth with the reorganization.
