Recall.ai eases proprietary AI integration with meeting platforms

Recall.ai, the provider of a single API for accessing real-time meeting data from platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and more, is announcing the results of its latest funding round, having raised $10 million. Following the company’s 10x growth in the past year, the funding will propel Recall.ai’s ambition to provide engineers with the means to integrate with any popular meeting platform—including Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack Huddles, and those without an API—with greater efficiency.

The emergence of remote work has led to a massive dependency on virtual meeting applications. For the specialist engineers tasked with building the infrastructure and integrations for AI-powered meeting bots to be used within those APIs, they encounter a myriad of challenges, ranging from the intensive labor required for building the bot to the labor of hosting and maintaining the infrastructure on hundreds of thousands of servers, according to Recall.ai.

To ensure that AI-powered meeting data collection is achievable for any enterprise, Recall.ai empowers a single engineer to set up a meeting bot in as little as days—regardless of their expertise in real-time video processing. Instead of worrying about running, monitoring, and scaling complex, real-time video infrastructure, enterprises can focus on delivering their core products and innovations, according to the company.

“Conversations are the world’s largest dataset,” said David Gu, co-founder at Recall.ai. “Large language models continue to unlock conversations in exciting ways, and the demand for developers to capture this data has never been higher. Every SaaS company in the world should be using conversations as a data source. Recall’s unified API makes it as easy as possible.”

"Recall has been a critical partner to us in rolling out Fellow.app's new AI copilot functionality which has been a huge hit with customers,” explained Aydin Mirzaee, CEO of Fellow.app. “We love working with Recall because they are focused on the infrastructure so that we can focus on what we're good at—solving meeting productivity for companies everywhere."

The Series A funding round—led by Ridge Ventures with participation from Industry Ventures, Y Combinator, IrregEx, Bungalow Capital, Hack VC, and other existing investors—will be utilized to expand Recall.ai’s product and team. The $10 million in funding brings Recall.ai’s total capital raised to over $12 million.

“Recall is on its way to becoming the de facto infrastructural layer for all enterprise-level conversational data,” said Akriti Dokania, partner at Ridge Ventures. “Video and voice data will only become more central to software companies moving forward. Providing infrastructure API access is a hard problem to solve and enterprises don’t want to solve it in-house; Recall’s tremendous growth proves it ten times over.”
