Progress Semaphore supercharges KM with AI-powered efficiency and productivity

Progress Software, the trusted provider of AI-powered digital experience and infrastructure software, is unveiling the latest iteration of Progress Semaphore, the metadata management and semantic AI platform designed to maximize the business value of enterprise information with meaning and context. Delivering a variety of new features engineered to boost productivity, efficiency, and achieve better business outcomes, Progress Semaphore introduces new AI functionality to drive smarter KM, according to the company.

Modern organizations are inundated with masses of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, each coming from diverse data sources and often locked into data silos due to fragmented processes. Progress Semaphore aims to alleviate these inefficiencies, enabling users to manage knowledge models and automatically extract and classify both structured and unstructured data to produce rich semantic metadata, according to the company.

With its latest update, Progress adheres to this vision, instituting advanced AI and semantic paradigms to help drive robust comprehension of enterprise information.

The first of the new enhancements, new connectors for the AI Model Builder, allow users to seamlessly connect the AI Model Builder to a range of large language models (LLMs). The AI Model Builder—which is an AI-powered tool that simplifies knowledge modeling—now not only enables users to easily build and enrich semantic models but also create or refine custom prompts to improve generative AI (GenAI) outputs.

With intuitive constraint definitions, users can visually define, implement, and manage data quality standards for their knowledge models—without having to write custom code. This eliminates the need for technical Shapes Constraint Language (SHACL) knowledge, allowing organizations to remain compliant with downstream systems and empower intelligent insights, according to Progress.

Progress Semaphore is also introducing full support for Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) mapping relationships, available through the Semaphore UI. This enables users to map existing concepts to external reference models with mapping relationships, creating a unified resource across downstream systems.

New structural-level classification systems boost efficiency, allowing users to update and configure classification settings at scale across each label type. Additionally, with Concept Reuse, users benefit from more flexible local model editing, enabling branches to be copied across models.

“The latest release of the Semaphore platform represents our commitment to innovation and addresses the evolving data management needs of our customers,” said John Ainsworth, executive vice president, general manager, application and data platform, Progress Software. “This release not only builds on Semaphore’s comprehensive knowledge modeling capabilities but also ensures seamless integration with emerging AI and semantic standards to empower enterprises with superior insights and decision-making tools.”
