Hitachi and Measured Search Partner on Secure Solr Search in the Cloud
Measured Search, Inc., a provider of a cloud orchestration, management and analytics platform for Apache Solr, is teaming up with Hitachi Solutions America on a solution that provides secure cloud-based search.
According to Measured Search, its SearchStax product suite offers automated provisioning and scaling of Apache Solr Search Engine, on-demand and scheduled backups, 24/7 monitoring and alerting, comprehensive analytics, and administrative tooling that helps companies manage and scale their Solr search solutions in the cloud. This solution, combined with Measured Search's Managed Services, provides a managed Solr-as-a-service multi-cloud capable offering.
Hitachi describes its Credeon Secure Full-Text Search as "a searchable encryption technology for the full-text search engine Solr." It protects against internal and external threats by enabling encrypted search index queries to be performed without requiring the decryption of the index.
Credeon Secure Full-Text Search assures simultaneous usability and security of stored data, making the use of public storage compatible with corporate data security policies. Using public cloud storage, users can isolate data from internal operations, prevent hacking, and prevent unauthorized access from government agencies.
The integration of the Measured Search solution with Hitachi's Credeon, the companies say, will help prevent unauthorized parties from accessing confidential data with security features such as encrypted index files and the ability to search while index files stay encrypted.
