Graylog provides end-user advancements in latest platform update

Graylog, a global provider of centralized log management solutions, is introducing Server Side Public License to its Open Source product with the upcoming general availability of Graylog 4.0.

With more flexible and granular level control, Graylog 4.0 will streamline processes for IT, drive the usage of log data down to the end-user, and improve the end-user experience.

“Graylog 4.0 takes terabytes of machine data and turns it into business and operational insights that address security, compliance, operational, and DevOps issues every day,” said Lennart Koopmann, founder, Graylog. “With this release, we deliver greater efficiencies to our customers by simplifying the user experience and increasing the power of the platform.”

 Graylog 4.0 highlights include:

  • Server Side Public License-Beginning with v4.0, Graylog Open Source will be licensed under the Server Side Public License (SSPL). First introduced by MongoDB, the SSPL license provides similar open source rights to GPL v3, and additionally extends those rights to cover cloud and SaaS offerings.
  • Graylog Open Source will include new functionality to seamlessly collect, enhance, store and analyze machine data.
  • Elasticsearch 7 Support improves search and indexing performance, new cluster coordination, and numerous other enhancements that can now be applied to Graylog environments.
  • Simplified Access Control removes the complexities of group permissions, enabling the management of users directly for a much simpler experience. Open Source users will also be able to manage access for larger teams of users through integration with AD/LDAP.
  • Graylog Enterprise will gain several new features to improve productivity when using Graylog in large or multi-team environments.
  • Team Management enables enterprise-sized organizations to efficiently control access to content creation at a Team level. This significantly reduces the time required to manage access and provides a greater degree of flexibility to share dashboards and search templates within a team and across the organization.
  • Slack and Script Notification Plugin supports several new Event Notification Types. With this addition, users have greater flexibility to customize notifications and action scripts for events.

Graylog Illuminate adds Illuminate for Networks. Joining Graylog Illuminate for Authentication, the Palo Alto Spotlight provides data enrichment, dashboards, alerts, search templates, and more.

The first content module covering network equipment, Illuminate for Networks automates the visualization, management, and correlation of log data and enables IT teams to visually identify who is accessing what, where, and when.
