Framing Unstructured Data for Business Analytics

However, a new paradigm is required to visually explore big data. Unlike high performance architectures supporting advanced analytics, high availability of the insights is required so that it is "ready-for-query" by any end-user, on whatever device they choose is needed to democratize the insights. Only in this way is the information technology department freed from ongoing customizations and can fuel insight discovery to all information consumers in the organization.

The image to the left on page S3 (see Figure 2 downloadable PDF) illustrates a high performance visual analytics environment designed to share the new insights developed from analytic endeavors with the enterprise population. This high performance visual analytic environment is enabled with distributed in-memory commodity hardware.

In this new environment, business intelligence technology can display, in real-time, all the data—enabling users to get the full picture they need to make the most informed decision possible. And text data—once it is structured by advanced analytics—simply becomes additional fields to choose and interactively query within this highly flexible reporting environment. Being able to easily see where rare terms occur, or filter based on a defined topic and then illustrating the impact of the textual conclusions with the structured data, gives enlightened understanding for decision-making.

Becoming a High Performing Organization

Becoming a high-performance organization means outperforming your competition and delighting your constituents and stakeholders. To get there, resource development gurus use terms such as trust, innovation, vision, leadership and personal responsibility. Having facts, based on trusted information, managed to be available whenever and however needed, permits everyone within the organization to have the personal insights needed to make the best decisions possible. And when people are successful in their daily activity, they feel valued and inspired to do more and to innovate.
