Environmental Resources Management: Environmental Resources Management is a leading global provider of environmental, health, safety, risk and social consulting services. Rolling out a global collaborative intranet supports the organization's strategic aim to operate as one global company and remove the risk of local information silos being created, i.e., a shift in culture from a local to a global outlook.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF): The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), an international nonprofit leading the fight against pediatric AIDS, works in 15 countries to prevent pediatric HIV infection and eradicate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. Its knowledge management initiative sought to strengthen EGPAF's capacity to document, organize and share its program experiences and lessons learned, internally and externally, in the form of practical tools and gray literature (i.e., convert tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge) and to visibly and broadly demonstrate the value and impact of EGPAF's program activities to donors, partners and other organizations working in the international HIV/AIDS arena.

GT Nexus: The supply chain software vendor implemented the Socialtext (socialtext.com) platform to its network to specifically target knowledge barriers created by departmental silos within the organization, thus adding significant value to its multi-enterprise collaboration capabilities. Users operate against a core set of information across multiple supply chain functions to optimize the flow of goods and trade information, from order point to final payment.

VMware: The virtualization and cloud computing vendor realized KM would be the key differentiator between it and the competition, so its KM team established processes to capture knowledge at strategic points in workflows that resulted in the most important knowledge being recorded and delivered to internal staff and/or customers as necessary.

Farmers Insurance Group: To provide better coverage of its employee knowledgebase, Farmers Insurance implemented Oracle's (oracle.com) InQuira search and used the Information Manager publishing tool as well as its analytics capabilities, leading to successful results.

Consultancy Development Centre (CDC): CDC, an autonomous institution of India's Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, implemented a knowledge management platform, provided by Newgen Software (newgensoft.com). It enables CDC to function essentially as a central hub hosted on a public domain, facilitating instant access to the knowledge repository by government agencies and selected members of the public.
