XML for the masses

Information Mapping has introduced Content Mapper, what's described as a Microsoft Word-based authoring tool that generates XML and integrates with a variety of popular content management systems (CMS).

Information Mapping reports its new product allows "round-trip editing" (from Microsoft Word to XML and back again), integration with the many popular CMS solutions, metadata tagging, import of legacy documents, flexible publishing and XML output.

Further, the company says, Content Mapper supports emerging industry standard document architectures, such as DITA and DocBook, and encourages topic-based content creation and hierarchical organizational structures. Integration with CMS solutions allows for easy metadata tagging and workflow to support single-source publishing, information reuse and flexible publishing, Information Mapping says.
