Fully orchestrated ECM

Percussion Software has released Version 5 of its Rhythmyx Content Management System (CMS), which extends its technology into a full enterprise content management solution and, Percussion claims, expands the category by offering the first practical ECM solution optimized for multichannel content reuse and delivery.

The company says Rhythmyx 5 allows knowledge workers to create, manage, deliver and reuse content easily and efficiently in new forms and combinations, minimizing developer intervention. It also features an architecture for system scaling, called "de-coupled delivery," which is said to support new delivery platforms as they are adopted, without the costs associated with license fees or custom coding to proprietary CMS APIs required by other vendors.

Additional new capabilities in release 5 make Rhythmyx a full-featured ECM solution for the first time, including:

  • a new document management module that extends core Rhythmyx capabilities for handling compound documents;

  • new Rhythmyx content connectors providing support for additional content sources and targets, including portals, digital assets and images;

  • Content Explorer, a new, improved user interface for managing all ECM content;

  • enhanced globalization support for streamlined management of multilingual content delivered to multiple audiences;

  • what is said to be the industry's first "intelligent relationship management" capability for the management of content interdependencies; and

  • a new Web services developer's kit for the integration of all Rhythmyx functionality into any enterprise application such as portals, mail clients, etc.
