Search one, search all

80-20 Software has introduced 80-20 One Search, a consolidated enterprise search solution combining 80-20 Discovery and 80-20 Retriever that is said to bring the accuracy and speed of both technologies together in one intuitive interface. One Search offers precise searching across all data in the organization, 80-20 says, including intranet and Internet information, file and network stores as well as personal information contained in mailboxes and personal stores.

80-20 claims One Search's strength lies in its ability to handle both key word queries and general, concept-based queries. Using a combination of advanced natural language processing, concept based classification and neural networks technology, One Search extracts concepts in a query, relates them to those in stored documents and then returns an accurate list of automatically categorized results, making it easy for users to locate the exact piece of information searched for, 80-20 reports.

Further, the company explains, One Search engine creates categories of search results on the fly. When a list of related results is being returned to a user, One Search identifies how many conceptually different categories are present and divides the results up appropriately. One Search then labels each category by locating the dominant concept in each group and calls it by that name.

As an example, 80-20 cites, a search on "healthcare in America" might return results on "the history of healthcare," "accidental deaths," "cost of healthcare," "children's health issues" and "government policy on healthcare." One Search will break up the complete list of results into these categories, place the relevant document within each and name the group appropriately. This powerful functionality is unique to 80-20 One Search and allows users to perform more inclusive and comprehensive searches that are also extremely accurate, the company claims.

80-20 One Search uses an ASN (adaptive self-generating neural networks) process to index and analyze concepts within documents and automatically create and populate categories for every query posed. The technology is not restricted by language and can be applied to non-text data such as voice, music, image and film, reports the company.
