Web services on the go
Action Engine has released Version 2.0 of its day released Mobile Web Services Platform, which is said to enable smart-device makers, carriers and wireless network operators and enterprises to deploy browserless, mobile Web services with or without wireless network connectivity on a variety of client platforms including: Pocket PC Phone Edition and Pocket PC, as well as Windows 98/2000/NT/XP; support for Smartphone 2002, Palm OS and Symbian OS is expected soon.
Action Engines claims it has solved key software-related problems that have prevented the widespread adoption of wireless data applications and services, reporting it:
- delivers a user experience that is both easy to use and intuitive on a device with limited data input capabilities and a small screen;
- offers affordable data: thick client approach distributes the processing and storage of data between client and server;
- provides a common platform enabling the rapid and efficient deployment of data enabled applications and Web services across key operating systems with a common user and management interface;
- deliver continuous productivity through offline access to applications and data;
- minimize costs and time to access information by minimizing wireless network traffic; and
- makes it possible to share data across all applications and access data from any device;
