Increasing knowledge velocity

TheBrain Technologies has developed BrainEKP, which is said to collapse the time to knowledge by capturing the intellectual capital of employees and leveraging it across the enterprise. The software will officially debuts at KMWorld 2001 Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 in Santa Clara, CA.

TheBrain says it’s the first single vendor to have integrated the functionality of existing point solutions--including a next-generation user interface, advanced search, categorization, collaboration, existing information systems and structured databases. BrainEKP further delivers knowledge modeling capabilities, which allows users to have a shared understanding of how information is created, connected, accessed and implemented. The modeling capability allows knowledge applications to be extended across disparate systems, enabling more extensive automation of business processes that users need to complete mission-critical goals, says the company.

BrainEKP includes four components:

  • a knowledge model that creates knowledge applications and gives information meaning by defining how it is used in the context of a specific process, generating a reusable knowledgebase as the result of normal business activities;

  • a visual user interface that displays information within a relational network enabling data to be shared and discovered within its full context;

  • universal data access features that synchronize key data elements across systems, enabling real-time integration of and access across applications; and

  • integrated collaboration capabilities that unite communication and information creation and access, enabling all activities to occur within one workspace.
