Cisco buys Atlantech

Cisco Systems’ has agreed to acquire Atlantech, a rapidly growing telecommunications-software firm based in Glasgow, Scotland, in exchange for $180 million in its own shares. Cisco, with $15 billion in revenues the past four quarters. In August 1999, Cisco (with $15 billion is revenue the past for quarters) purchased a 9.5 percent stake in Atlantech for $9 million, suggesting the value of the business has doubled since that deal was done.

Atlantech was founded in 1992. The 120 employees will remain in Glasgow and be led by CEO David Sibbald.
