Cipher Systems software adds collaboration to Notes, IBM

New software from Cipher Systems will give users of Lotus Notes and IBM middleware improved knowledge management and competitive intelligence capabilities.

Cipher's Knowledge.Works is a Notes-based data warehouse tool with workflow that gives a portal-like view of information from internal databases, filtered news feeds, field reports and Web pages.

Cipher's IntelAssist ("Intelligence Assistant") groupware, built on Notes Version 3 and 4, offers an E-mail gateway, information refinery features and the ability to monitor competitors' Web sites.

Both integrate with IBM's Suite for Windows NT and Intelligent Miner for Text products as well as Lotus Notes and Domino. Knowledge.Works and IntelAssist each cost $60,000.

The Cipher-IBM combination offers IBM middleware users "a powerful new alternative in the database, systems management and search tools needed to leverage their organization's collaborative brainpower," said Cipher president Brooke Aker
