Intranet Solutions releases major software upgrade

Web-based document management vendor IntraNet Solutions has released a new version of its flagship Intra.doc product with enhancements to help workgroups better manage documents and the blocks of content contained therein.

Among the new features in Intra.doc Version 3.5 are an archive/replication capability and Verity-based search capabilities for moving and sharing document-contained knowledge between multiple Intra.doc! sites. Other features include enhanced workflow, document subscription, a Java applet for check-in, component architecture and an ODMA-FrameMaker extension.

Pricing depends on the complexity of the system: a project package for five contributors with the basic Intra.doc! system, security module, enhanced workflow and document subscription functionality costs $17,995; a workgroup edition for 25 contributors costs $29,995; and an enterprise edition with Web site option and a developer's license for unlimited users costs $100,000. Individual modules for workflow, read-only capabilities, archive/replication and development cost $5,000 each.

Analysts applaud the move from workgroup to enterprise-wide scalability. "Version 3.5's replication support for distributed environments, searching capabilities and 'ease-of-use' reputation make it a strong contender for enterprise-wide deployments," said CAP Ventures analyst Mike Maziarka.

The Delphi Group says that the product's continued simplicity "can continue to make this product set attractive to a large variety of organizations...the IS package offers high 'out of the box' functionality at a price point impossible to ignore."
