Informix bounces back in Q2 '98

Informix (Nasdaq: IFMX) has beaten the Street with Q2 '98 profit. The database vendor reports $174.2 million in revenue, down from $182.5 million in Q2 '97. A net income of $12.3 million doubles Wall Street estimates, and reverses a Q2 '97 net loss of $111.4 million. Sales revenues dipped 21% from the previous year to $86.0 million, while revenue from services jumped 20% over the same period. "We have completed the management team, [we are] continuing to manage costs effectively, and are profitable," said chairman and CEO Bob Finocchio, who stressed Informix's priority of growing the topline.
