Fujitsu rolls out new scanner

Fujitsu Computer Products of America has taken the wraps off a new scanner for workgroup-level imaging. The ScanPartner 15C scans up to 15 pages per minute at 300 x 600 dpi, and can stack up to 50 individual pages ranging in size from 5 x 3-inch to 8 1/2 x 14-inch sheets. The scanner comes with a built-in document feeder, a ScanRight Image kit with ISIS and TWAIN drivers, a professional edition of Eastman Imaging for Windows, a SCSI card, cables, and a service and warranty package.

The scanner is designed "for workgroup users who require a more powerful feature set than can be found in existing flatbed scanners," said John Hoye, FCPA's director of scanner product management.

Fujitsu is targeting the right market at the right time, according to InfoTrends Research Group analyst Kristy Holch. "In the workgroup segment of the market, scanners are on the verge of crossing over as a required office productivity tool," she said. With the introduction of the ScanPartner 15C, she sees Fujitsu as "a pioneer in addressing the imaging needs of workgroup users."

The ScanPartner 15C costs $995, and is now available through Fujitsu's resellers
