NTIS goes paperless with Image Machines

Image Machines (Herndon, VA) has been selected to help the National Technical Information Service (NTIS), an agency of the Department of Commerce, manage and deliver documents over the Internet. The NTIS will use Image Machines' Imagesite Version 2.0 to provide an online technical document information system that fulfills requirements set down by the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The NTIS system includes document viewing and delivery capabilities, and a conference room module for real time collaboration by a group of people on sets of documents and their markups. The system will provide "the broadest possible access to the technical documents that the industry may need during the Defense Department spare parts procurement process," states Dr. Donald Johnson, NTIS Director. The new system "will help the Commerce Department address the rapidly increasing demand for information in the 21st century," commented Image Machines president Dr. Chuck Reiger.
