CENSA issues call for electronic recordkeeping system

If you're looking to design and build an electronic recordkeeping system, then Collaborative Electronic Notebook Systems Association (CENSA, Woburn, MA) wants to talk with you. CENSA, an international industry association for creating and promoting electronic recordkeeping systems, has released a request for proposal (RFP) to software and hardware suppliers to help build and design Electronic Recordkeeping Services Version 1.0. The new electronic recordkeeping system will include the following technologies: recordkeeping, electronic document management, groupware, secure system access, time-stamping, digital signatures; electronic records storage and permanent archiving, and records migration. It will be designed for electronic recordkeeping in general, according to Dr. Rich Lysakowski, CENSA executive director, but specifically will address the needs of regulated industries like the chemical, agrochemical, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries. The RFP is directed at both vendors and end-user organizations who will implement the new system. Dr. Lysakowski stresses that this RFP "is a product development consortium, not a standards group or a research effort." It will result in new products for end users and business opportunities for suppliers "not simply paper specifications."

Questions about the RFP should be directed to:
