Xionics unveils scanner interface controllers

Xionics (Burlington, MA) has unveiled new ISIS-compatible scanner interface controllers for Windows 95 and NT. The Scankits controller, based on the ANSI/AIIM MS61 standard, comes with preconfigured PCI cards, driver software, all necessary cables, and documentation for "instant on" scanning. The product was developed by Xionics' Seaport Imaging group, which was formed through Xionics' acquisition of Seaport Imaging in September 1997. With this release, Xionics is the first company to offer WIN 32 versions of ISIS and TWAIN compatible scanner drivers for its new interface cards. "We're excited and delighted by their success in creating an NT/95 ISIS compatible driver for their products," said Pixel Translations

(San Jose) VP Steve Francis. "Xionics' rapid success reflects well on their expertise and demonstrates the usefulness of the ANSI/AIIM MS61 standard." Plug-and-play characteristics combined with the flexibility of ISIS makes Scankits "the clear winner over all other products in the industry," said Larry Krummel, senior director of Xionics' Digital Document Products Division and head of Xionics' Seaport Imaging group.
