Quark Adds Publishing with Purchase of Coris

Wondering when and where Quark (Denver) was going to lay down the $200 million it recently set aside for acquisitions? Wonder no longer. Quark has purchased all of the assets of R.R. Donnelly (Chicago) subsidiary Coris and its main product, Coris Publisher Version 3.0, which publishes information on CD-ROM and the Web. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and R.R. Donnelley's shareholders have yet to approve the purchase. Quark will use Coris' technology to produce "a best-of-class content management solution for future Quark client-server applications," said Susan Friedman, Quark's VP of product management. Coris' customer base includes R.R. Donnelley, Avon and Modus Media.
