Intraspect Unveils Tool for Reusing Corporate Knowledge

An intranet-based software application that helps organizations reuse their corporate knowledge has been unveiled by Intraspect (Los Altos, CA). The Intraspect application creates a group memory of the enterprise, which stores relevant information accessible by users in various workgroups across the intranet. Workers can access and reuse knowledge stored in a single repository. The system uses distributed object storage, full text search, desktop integration, Web publishing, E-mail and other technologies to collect and organize Web pages, E-mail messages, files and documents from the desktop (text and graphics) and external news feeds. "There is an enormous amount of wasted knowledge costing corporations millions of dollars in lost or inaccessible intellectual capital from reinventing the wheel to institutional knowledge walking out the door to workgroups not aware of each others' past experiences," said Peter Friedland, Intraspect co-founder and CEO. The system is based on industry standards, including Windows, Java, HTTP, HTML and SMTP. Intraspect is currently partnering with

Hewlett-Packard (Greeley, CO); customers include Cisco Systems (San Jose) and ARCO Western Energy. Now available, Intraspect is priced at $10,000 for a 25 user license, with larger quantities dependent upon configuration.
