Accellion Boosts its Secure Content Platform

Accellion, Inc., a provider of private cloud solutions for secure file sharing and collaboration, is strengthening the security features of its kiteworks platform.

“We’re going to be providing this ability to work with Microsoft Office tools through the kiteworks product line,” said Bob Ertl, senior director of product management. “One of the key pieces of the current announcement is our full support for the Microsoft Office 360 Suite.”

The new enhancements also include restricted folders and “leak proof editing,” desktop remote wipe, secure email messaging, file-type exclusions, touch ID, multi-branding, collaboration, permissions per user profile, and single sign-on using Kerberos.

According to the company, these features will enable enterprise content can be retrieved, edited, and shared securely within kiteworks - whether employees are working remotely or onsite, collaborating with colleagues or external partners, or accessing content that is stored on-premises or in the cloud.

“Our customers are the ones who tend to want the most compliance,” Ertl said. “Those people are tending to gravitate towards us because of these kinds of capabilities.”

The platform already offers encryption, full auditing, DLP integration, e-discovery, policy-based content retention, data sovereignty, app whitelisting, and user-friendly digital rights management. These features will complement the newest upgrades, according to Accellion.

“The idea is the company as a whole is able to enforce the policies they need to have in place on different users,” Ertle said.
