BancTec installs claims processing solution

BancTec (Dallas) has announced that a 13-month implementation of an image-based claims processing solution has been completed for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. The system has eliminated all paper handling functions when processing claims that are now keyed for images at a rate of 19,000 claims a day. The BancTec-supplied image management system uses BancTec scanners, file server subsystem, Informix database and BancTec's Plexus Storage Manager. "All deadlines were met, with the last phase completed a month before the scheduled target date," said Brian Kenney, Blue Cross' project manager.
