Is your automation strategy unified?

Technology conference shows how

Evaluating and taking the implementation leap is something Information Technology managers don't want to do in a vacuum.

The AIIM Technology Forum at Knowledge Management Expo is designed to close the gap between robust and cost effective. Recognizing the technology migration and integration are facts of today's business life, the Forum promises to enable these knowledge managers to create a unified automation strategy that is clear, orderly and durable. The conference is designed to sort out the competing claims of vendors and suggest a rational approach to navigating the technological waters.

The conference will consist of five tracks:

Enterprise Solutions--This track provides an overview of some key issues facing information technology managers today. Rather than a survey of technologies, these sessions will constitute an investigation of many strategic questions facing the IT professional today. They will provide the guidelines to help deal with such dilemmas as building vs. buying a solution, internal vs. external sources for application development, and the prospects for electronic commerce among enterprises.

Core Technologies--This track examines specific technology areas that impact the enterprise. These sessions will both survey and highlight the options available to businesses, providing the experience of those who have implemented the technologies. Automatic data capture, COLD, rapid application development tools and component imaging are some of the topics addressed in this track.

Workflow--This track will provide attendees with the tools to evaluate the vendors and their products in this highly competitive area, as well as to implement workflow in a variety of environments. The linkage between workflow and imaging, the Web, and engineering documents will be examined. In addition, a case study of a key workflow implementation will be presented.

Document Management--This track will enable attendees to formulate improved strategies for access, routing, storage and distribution of business-critical documents. The four-part document management world, consisting of collectors, processors and collaborators, navigators and disseminators will be explored in depth. Attendees will learn a methodology for evaluating vendors and products, will learn to understand how to ensure the integrity of business-critical information on the Web, and will get an inside look at Microsoft's (Redmond, WA, http://www.microsoft.com/industry/docman) strategy to take on the document management vendors.

Internet/Intranet--This track will look at this burgeoning area with an eye toward enterprise applications. The experiences of a wide range of companies that have done business on the net will be brought to bear in these discussions. Such issues as ensuring secure document management, assembling document repositories on intranets, Web-site management and the intriguing area of groupware on the Web will be discussed.
