AIIM elects new vice chair and treasurer
At its recently held annual exposition and conference, the AIIM International (Silver Spring, MD,
http://www.aiim.org/tradeshow) Board of Directors elected
David Silver, CEO of
Kofax Imaging Products (Irvine, CA,
http://www.kofax.com), as vice chair and chair-elect, and
John O'Connell, president and founder of
Staffware (Wellesley, MA,
http://www.staffware.com), as treasurer.
One of the founding engineers at FileNet (Costa Mesa, CA, http://www.filenet.com), Silver introduced the European market to PC-based document imaging in 1987. Two years later, he established the first MS Windows development tools for creating document scanning and printing applications. Silver built the first, and currently largest, worldwide distributor/reseller channel for document imaging products, with more than 1,500 active resellers.
Asked to name his goals for AIIM, Silver said that he intends to further the efforts of AIIM President John Mancini toward bringing more corporate and institutional users into the AIIM fold. He also wants to help AIIM focus more clearly on establishing its international presence by partnering with organizations such as the International Information Management Congress and other smaller organizations. Silver also wants to upgrade AIIM's internal computing infrastructure so that it can help the organization perform as a world class provider of trade shows and publications.
O'Connell is a workflow pioneer. During the 1980s, he was part of a team that developed procedure processing software, the forerunner of workflow automation software. O'Connell has served on the AIIM board since 1995.
