Search: No gamble for the Gaming Board

The Enforcement Division of the Nevada Gaming Control Board is enlisting the help of search technology in its investigations. The division, which operates 24/7 from five sites statewide, is the law enforcement arm of the Gaming Control Board. Among its responsibilities, the division conducts criminal and regulatory investigations, gathers intelligence on organized criminal groups involved in gaming-related activities, and conducts background investigations.

After implementing ISYS:desktop from ISYS Search Software, the department can conduct advanced searches across large data repositories to locate key information pertaining to gaming-related research. The solution enables higher productivity and time savings, according to ISYS.

The software offers board officials several query methods, including Plain English and Menu-Assisted, enabling users to apply Boolean logic to their searches. Investigators can filter and sort the results, leveraging Hit Highlighting and Hit-to-Hit Navigation features to locate the most relevant information.

"The Nevada Gaming Control Board has a mission-critical need for locating and acting on information contained across its various repositories," says Ian Davies, founder and managing director of ISYS Search Software. "Often, the sought-after information is of regulatory nature, thus making the need to quickly and easily pinpoint the data that much more imperative."
