RM meets IM

In conjunction with FaceTime, Open Text reports it has developed better ways to manage content created in real-time communications applications such as instant messaging (IM), as well as incorporate the content into records management and compliance initiatives.

With FaceTime, enterprises gain a tool for securing, managing and monitoring public IM and enterprise IM such as Microsoft Live Communications Server and IBM Lotus Sametime, as well as protecting against other "greynets" that can potentially open the door to hackers and "malware." Open Text says this capability, integrated with Livelink ECM, allows customers to selectively retain, archive and destroy IM conversations in order to meet compliance and e-discovery requirements.

Open Text also reports it has released its newest e-mail management application, which provides advanced features for Microsoft Exchange 2007. The latest version of Livelink ECM – Email Management lets customers more easily deploy and manage e-mail with Microsoft’s newest release of Exchange, providing comprehensive capabilities that can improve information governance and mitigate the legal and regulatory risks posed by e-mail. A key feature of the new release is tight integration with Microsoft Exchange 2007’s Managed Folders functionality, which lets users organize messages into customized Outlook folders for individual departments, users or functions, explains Open Text.
