Octopai releases cloud metadata management automation solution

Octopai, a provider of metadata management automation, is launching its cloud based metadata management automation tool, enabling Microsoft users to locate crucial data and track its movement process across.

The company’s cloud-based solution offers Microsoft customers the ability to discover data and visualize complete data lineage in 5 seconds with a single click of a button.

Requiring less than 1 hour for setup, Octopai offers customers actionable insights into the Microsoft BI Stack in under 24 hours.

The new release increases productivity of day to day operations by providing advanced visibility across the entire BI landscape, according to the vendor.

To help BI professionals and business users understand and gain notable insight into their metadata, Octopai enables users to perform:

• Horizontal Lineage: Microsoft users will be able to understand the data flow as it moves and transforms throughout the SSIS, MS-SQL, Tabular, OLAP, SSRS and PowerBI in one click. This lineage can be from any point to any point and can be shared and socialized with the different stakeholders that participate in the data management efforts.
• Vertical Lineage (Column-to-Column) enables users to drill down into ETL processes and Stored Procedures to get unprecedented visibility into data lineage. For the first time, users can visualize source to target, travel upstream and downstream across the ETL, jump from one database package to another, and even from a database package to a stored procedure and vice versa.
• Impact analysis: By reverse engineering the data flow, Microsoft users who want to make a change to an SSIS package or a stored procedure from SQL server, can understand the full impact of any changes required in the design phase before going live to production.

One of the greatest barriers for BI is the lack of agility and amount of time it takes to get current tools up and running, said Amnon Drori, CEO of Octopai. This cloud based solution allows BI professionals to integrate on Monday and see meaningful results by Wednesday.
