Mobile digital rights management from Accellion
Accellion reports it has added integrated digital rights management (DRM) features for its kiteworks solution, including the ability to control the viewing, copying and altering of shared documents.
The company highlights the following security enhancements:
View-only role—Organizations want to ensure the security of sensitive information by preventing users from downloading or forwarding critical documents. With the view-only role, files can be viewed with high fidelity on a mobile device or Web browser but not downloaded or forwarded, thus enabling IT to maintain full control and visibility. Two additional security features ensure against data leakage.
- Watermarking—File security is enhanced by ensuring that recipients only receive an image of the file, with a custom watermark rather than an editable document. Watermarking strengthens the security of the View Only role, by ensuring that viewers cannot capture images and use them elsewhere.
- Full content search—Within the online viewer on a mobile or Web interface, users can search for and highlight key words or phrases.
Withdraw files—Users now have the ability to withdraw files in the event they’ve sent the wrong content, or sent content to the wrong recipient. This capability is available for both mobile and Web users, and adds another layer of security to protect documents. Further, users can resend files they’ve sent to a recipient or forward files to additional collaborators from within the Activity Stream.
