Fujitsu Enhances Document Processing Platform

Fujitsu has made updates to its document processing solution, PaperStream Server, to help organizations to more efficiently capture data at any time and from anywhere, and integrate the content into their business workflows.

According to Fujitsu, the ability to capture information at the point of business impact is becoming more crucial now that workers are moving from the traditional desk and office set-up to working remotely and requiring solutions that make productivity a question of when, not where.

As employees increasingly need anytime, anywhere access to capture, view, and process business data, it's critical that they have the tools to meet these business demands, noted Jeff DeCarlo, senior vice president of marketing and corporate strategy, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc.  The new features in the PaperStream Server platform give businesses more intelligent and efficient document processing capabilities to adapt to company needs and stay ahead of the competition, he added.

The new functionality in the PaperStream Server platform includes a web-based scanning app that captures images from any TWAIN or PaperStream IP scanner and run at full-rated speeds; optical character recognition (OCR), capabilities that enable users to manually select text from a scanned image to populate a metadata value; Microsoft SQL Server Express and SQL Azure support, in addition to the standard and enterprise versions of SQL Server, and an upload app that allows users to upload electronic files into PaperStream Server via a web browser, from anywhere, on any device.

The new web-based scanning application, OCR, and mobile capture capabilities expand PaperStream Server's functionality, which helps organizations route business-critical content into line-of-business or enterprise content management systems.

With PaperStream Server, organizations can import or ingest both scanned images and digital documents from multiple sources and process those documents, then send them into business workflows. In addition to batch processing, the software can pull in existing digital documents from watched folders, emails, CSV / XML files or other client applications, such as PaperStream Capture Pro.
