Enhanced SDK for image cleanup from Accusoft
Accusoft has announced the release of ScanFix Xpress V.8, a new version of its software development kit (SDK) designed to provide applications the ability to automatically clean up and correct scanned image files.
Accusoft says ScanFix Xpress cleans up scans to reduce file sizes and to boost the speed and accuracy of subsequent processes such as optical character recognition (OCR), intelligent character recognition (ICR) and forms processing, with little or no operation intervention into the application into which it’s integrated. Applications built with ScanFix Xpress can quickly and automatically perform a full range of cleanup operations, including deskew, binarize, brightness and contrast correction, hole punch removal, inverse text correction and automatic detection of image orientation.
For better accuracy of subsequent processing, Version 8 features enhanced binarization function for conversion of gray scale and color images to bi-tonal images. A new application program interface (API) has been added for line detection and removal, enabling developers to selectively control which lines to remove from scanned images to facilitate processing, and which to leave in place for content organization and readability.
Further, says the company, ScanFix Xpress can also now automatically correct warped images captured by digital cameras and smart phones held at an imperfect angle, to improve the accuracy and reliability of such application functions as mobile check deposits and photo forms submissions.
